CHARLES HAS OVER 20 YEARS OF ECONOMIC CONSULTING EXPERIENCE with a principal focus on commercial litigation, including class actions, intellectual property disputes, antitrust claims, fraud, negligence, mismanagement and contract breach. He is experienced across a wide spectrum of industries, with particular expertise in the energy industry.

Charles was heavily involved in North American energy deregulation proceedings and currently provides competitive analysis to the deregulated natural gas and electric industries. He was an early advocate for the optional electric power pool concept and flexible power contracting by state utilities to allow all parties to efficiently respond to market conditions. In addition, Charles has served as an expert witness on economic issues before state and federal regulatory commissions, local, state and federal civil courts, and arbitration panels.

The economic analyses undertaken by Charles usually involve substantive computer modeling, statistical analysis and/or econometrics. He has authored a number of business valuation reports for corporate planning, equity transactions and tax purposes.

Charles graduated from Central Michigan University with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree, and earned a Masters degree and completed PhD requirements except dissertation (ABD) in Economics from the University of Colorado.
